AdWords Website Call Tracking


Google has introduced a simplified tracking technique, which can track call conversions from websites. It is a method used to check how effectively an Adwords Ad leads to a conversion call. To consider the call conversion valid, there is a prescribed call length the webmaster needs to set, once the call time exceeds the minimum call length, it is valid for a count. In order to use this feature, business numbers on the website should be replaced by dynamically generated Google forwarding numbers.

Basic requirements in order to use the website call tracking feature

• An active AdWords account

• A working call extension

• A business in eligible nation. *(The list of countries where Google forwarding numbers are available
is present on the internet)

• Website

Process for enabling website call tracking in an adwords accounts

Procedure to set up website call conversion feature is pretty simple; settings are available under the Google Adwords Account, Conversion section from the drop down menu. Post which, tagging a phone number each time it is listed on the landing page is not necessary, instead one piece of conversion tracking code suffices all.

Note: A JAVA snippet still needs to be added, so that the number present on website can be replaced to a unique Google forwarding number.

The tracking feature helps understand, number of phone calls received from customers who found the business via clicking on the AdWords Ad . Keeping a track of these calls, help optimize the Ad campaigns and more accurately track return on investment.
